What are R-values?
R-value is a way to measure how well a material insulates. The better the insulation, the higher the number per unit of thickness. Spray foam with closed cells has an R-value of roughly 7.0 per inch (R-7), whereas SPF with open cells has an R-value of roughly 3.7. These R-values should be considered rough averages. Based on its formulation, every SPF product will be different.
What impact does this have on my Florida home in Vero Beach?
The higher the r-value, the better the insulation is at keeping your home cool in the summer.
Insulation prevents the loss of your air conditioning through air gaps in your home and prevents outside heat from coming into your home. Heat or cold cannot escape because spray foam insulation seals off the space and makes it airtight.
As a result, you use less energy and save money on your cooling and heating costs.
